Check the fluid at least every month for the first year and regularly thereafter. This
fluid check provides a baseline for knowledge of Bath operation with clean, usable
fluid. Once some fluids are compromised, fluid break down can occur rapidly. Pay
particular attention to the viscosity of the fluid. A significant change in the
viscosity can indicate that the fluid is contaminated, being used outside of its
temperature limits, contains ice particles, or is close to a chemical breakdown.
Heat transfer medium lifetime depends upon the type of medium and the
conditions used. Once you gather this data, outline a specific maintenance
schedule for the Product. See
different types of fluids used in calibration baths.
Keep MSDS sheets applicable to all fluids used in the baths near the Product. For
bath fluid spills inside or on the Product, take the appropriate decontamination
steps as outlined by the national safety council.
Check the over-temperature cutout every 6 months to see that it works properly.
To check and set the user-selected cutout, follow the directions in
Set the Bath temperature higher than the cutout. Check to see if the display

Cut-out
To prevent possible personal injury, or Product damage:
When you check the over-temperature cutout, do not exceed bath fluid
temperature limits. Exceeding the temperature limits of the bath fluid could
cause harm to the operator, lab, and instrument.
With silicone oil, the Bath requires periodic maintenance. Silicon oil condenses
on the Bath in normal operation due to the outgasing of the oil. How often and
how long the Bath operates at higher temperatures determines how often to do
maintenance. Wipe down the oily areas of the Bath with a mild degreaser. Do not
spray the degreaser directly on the Bath. Spray the degreaser on a cloth and
wipe the Bath down with the cloth. Repeat the process as necessary to keep the
oil from collecting on the Bath. If oil collects on the Bath, it may run into the Bath
and collect on the interior causing internal damage that might affect the lifetime
of the Product.
To prevent personal injury or damage to the Product or lab, do not exceed bath
fluid temperature limits when you check the over-temperature cutout.
