Decommissioning

Hardware damage due to power supply
A connected power supply can cause damage to the industrial PC during disassembly.
• Disconnect the power supply from the device before starting to disassemble it.
When taking the industrial PC out of operation, you must first disconnect the power supply and cables. You
can then remove the device from the 19-inch rack.
If you do not want to continue using the industrial PC, Chapter 6.2 Disassembly and disposal [} 36] provides
information on the correct disposal of the device.

Disconnecting the power supply and cables

Risk of electric shock
Disconnecting the industrial PC during a thunderstorm can lead to electric shock.
• Never disconnect the cables of the industrial PC during a thunderstorm.
Before you remove the industrial PC from the 19-inch rack, you must disconnect the cables and the power
supply. Follow the steps below:
1. Shut down the industrial PC.
2. Disconnect the industrial PC from the external power supply.
3. Pull the power supply plug out of the power supply socket.
4. Remove the power supply cable if the connector is to remain with the PC.
5. Make a note of the wiring of all data transmission cables if you want to restore the cabling with another
device.
6. Disconnect the data transmission cables from the industrial PC.
7. Finally, disconnect the ground connection.
ð You have disconnected the power supply and the cables.
