Regeneration is Running
This screen is displayed when passive (or active) engine regeneration is
occurring.
Engine Regeneration
The engine is equipped with a regeneration function as part of the emissions
system to remove soot from the diesel particulate filter (DPF). The default set-
ting for this function is automatic and regeneration will typically occur as
"passive regeneration" (indicating normal soot level) or "active regeneration"
(indicating elevated soot level) during normal use.
Exhaust temperatures during regeneration can reach 1200°F. DO NOT
allow the regeneration process to take place when the surrounding
environment is sensitive to high temperatures (example: flammable items
present near exhaust opening). Instead, disable the regeneration process in
the config menu under "Engine Regeneration" until the machine can be run in
an environment that is safe for temperatures in this range.
States of Regeneration (soot level):
1.
Passive Regeneration - occurs automatically when soot reaches level 1
during normal operation (Alarm message will be displayed)
2.
Active Regeneration - occurs automatically when soot reaches level 2
during normal operation (Alarm message will be displayed)
3.
Forced Regeneration - required when regeneration has been disabled
and soot has reached level 3. Forced Regeneration must be activated
manually when indicated by the display (alarm message). Failure to do
so may result in decreased performance and emissions system failure.
If the following message is displayed: "Warning - Engine regeneration is
needed to avoid damage to engine emissions system. Please return the
machine to neutral, apply parking brake and start forced regeneration
process", you must comply or risk emissions system damage.
Return the machine to neutral, apply the parking brake and select engine
regeneration from the config menu. Follow the instructions for selecting
"forced" regeneration to begin the process (page 53) .
