Starting, Operating, and Stopping the Machine 6.21
2.
Rotate the starting key (2) clockwise to the ON (l) position.
ð All lights on the display/control panel and the light ring (3) (both red
and amber) will illuminate for a five-second LED test.
ð After five seconds, all lights go off except the power ON indicator (4),
charge indicator (5), engine oil pressure indicator (6), and the amber
LEDs of the light ring which remain illuminated.
3.
Turn on the SmartControl™ SC-3 transmitter by pressing the red ON-
OFF pushbutton (7). Make sure the amber indicator lights in the light
rings are flashing at a slow rate. This indicates infrared reception and
that the transmitter is at the correct distance from the machine. If they
are not flashing, it indicates that either the transmitter is not on or that
the control channel of the transmitter does not match the control chan-
nel of the machine. If they are flashing at a fast rate (three times per
second), it indicates that the transmitter (and operator) are too close to
the machine. Reposition the SmartControl™ SC-3 transmitter so that
the indicator lights flash at a slow and steady rate. If you are operating
multiple rollers, check to make certain each roller and its accompany-
ing transmitter are set to a different control channel.
ð After approximately two seconds, if engine conditions dictate
(coolant temperature too cool), the glow plug indicator (8) will illumi-
nate and the light ring will flash red, signifying that the glow plugs are
on—approximately 30 seconds at 0°C (32°F).
Note: The starter will not crank during the glow plug cycle. The
colder the engine coolant temperature, the longer the glow plugs will
stay on:
4.
Immediately after the glow plug indicator and red light ring go out,
press the engine start pushbutton (9) and hold it down until the engine
starts. If the machine fails to start within 15 seconds of cranking, re-
lease the engine start pushbutton. Press the red ON-OFF pushbutton
to turn the transmitter off. Wait 30 seconds, then turn the transmitter
back on and repeat the starting procedure.
5.
Once started and sufficient oil pressure is sensed, the oil pressure indi-
cator will go out.
6.
Allow the unit to warm up a minimum of five minutes before engaging
the throttle switch to the high (rabbit) position.
Operating the machine
• When standing behind the machine (11), pushing forward on the for-
ward/reverse joystick causes the machine to move away from the opera-
tor, pushing left on the steering joystick results in the machine turning
left, etc.
