58 SAFETY INFORMATION
If the control unit detects a sufficiently violent deceleration (collision), the system is
activated. The gas generator triggers and fills the bag with a nontoxic gas within a few
hundredths of a second. During a collision, after the bag is full, gas flows out through two
holes in the weave. These holes are large enough to let the airbag collapse slowly, gently
catching the driver.
In the event of a problem in the SRS system, an icon is shown in the graphic display in the
instrument cluster.
CAUTION
The vehicle should be taken to
an authorized Volvo Truck dealer
immediately if the SRS icon comes on
or remains on while the vehicle is being
driven.
