Protocol-specific characteristics

The integrated switch to the web server of the DDLS 508i for remote diagnostics can lead to restricted per-
formance with some TCP/IP or UDP protocols.
It is particularly important for the user to check the usability of the DDLS 508i for the following data trans-
mission scenarios:
• Transmissions that make extremely high demands of real time
• Transmissions with extremely narrow specifications with regard to particular protocol architecture, delay
times and jitter tolerances.
NOTICE
The DDLS 508i is not suitable for transmitting the following protocols:
- PROFINET RT
- PROFINET IRT
- PROFIsafe over PROFINET **
- EtherCAT *
- Safety-over-EtherCAT (FSoE) *
* For the EtherCAT and FsoE protocols, the DDLS 538 optical data transmission is to be used.
** For the PROFIsafe over PROFINET protocol, the DDLS 508 or DDLS 548i optical data trans-
mission is to be used.
NOTICE
The decision as to whether the DDLS 508i can be used for other protocols that do not corre-
spond to the protocol and transmission characteristics described above lies with the user.
Leuze electronic GmbH + Co. KG cannot accept any liability for any transmission problems that
occur which are attributable to the above-mentioned causes.
