The format for calculating the sectional area of DC power cables is S=2 × I × L/(57 × ΔU).
Where:
I is the load current, in units of A.
L is the cable length, in units of m.
ΔU is the voltage drop between the power distribution frame (PDF) and the access controller, which
is typically 3.2 V.
S is the sectional area of the cables, in units of mm
Follow these steps to connect the AC power cables for a DC PSU:
Set the power switch on all the DC PSUs to the OFF position.
Step1
Remove the terminal protection cover from the DC PSU, and loosen the screws from the terminals using
Step2
a Phillips screwdriver.
Plug the end labeled (–) of the supplied blue DC power cable into the terminal marked (–) on the PSU
Step3
and fasten the screw.
Plug the end labeled (+) of the supplied black DC power cable into the terminal marked (+) on the PSU
Step4
and fasten the screw.
Put on the terminal protection cover.
Step5
Connect the other end of the DC power cables to the wiring terminals of the DC power source for the
Step6
access controller.
Set the power switch on the PSU to the ON position.
Step7
Check the power LED on the front panel of the access controller. LED green indicates that the PSU is
Step8
operational; LED red indicates that the PSU is faulty.
