TANDBERG MPS User Manual
Once the necessary configurations are entered, click [Add] to activate the dialling rule. There is no limitation in the
MPS as to how many Dialling rules you want to set up. However, bear in mind that the total number of registrations on
the Gatekeeper can be limited.
ISDN Gateway
The J3 software supports an ISDN to H.323 gateway.
Example DID:
Your ISDN PRI number range for the Gateway is from 67124000 to 67124050.
Your IP endpoints have the numbers (H.323 Alias) in the range 4000 - 4050.
Set 'Type' to DID and chose a bandwidth.
Set 'No. Significant Digits' to 4 and 'From Prefix' to 6712.
Set 'To Nettype' to H.323 and leave 'To Prefix' empty.
To call an IP endpoint with H.323 Alias 4020 from ISDN, dial the ISDN number 67124020.
To be able to do "empty" incoming prefix matching, as the example above, this rule must be the first that is
added to the mapping rules database. If not, this rule will match with any other prior added dial in rules.
If you want your IP endpoints to have numbers in the range 94000 – 94050, set 'To Prefix' to 9 instead.
Example IVR+TCS-4:
Your ISDN PRI number for Gateway usage is 67124000.
Set 'Type' to IVR+TCS-4 and chose a bandwidth.
Set 'No. Significant Digits' to 8 and 'From Prefix' to 67124000.
Set 'To Nettype' to H.323 and leave 'To Prefix' empty.
To call an IP endpoint with H.323 Alias 4020 from ISDN, dial the ISDN number 67124000*4020.
The notation to separate the ISDN number from the extension by '*' is only available on certain types of
endpoints. Consult the endpoint documentation to find out if and how TCS-4 is supported.
If you want to use IVR instead dial 67124000 and enter '4020#' using DTMF.
It is also possible to configure an H.323 to ISDN gateway.
Example DID:
The GW shall be configured to have an H.323 prefix 0047.
Set 'Type' to DID and chose a bandwidth.
Set 'No. Significant Digits' to 0, 'From Nettype' to H.323, and 'From Prefix' to 0047.
Set 'To Nettype' to ISDN and leave 'To Prefix' empty.
To call an ISDN endpoint with ISDN number 67141234 from H.323, dial the number 04767141234.
Setting the Gateway's dial-in number to 0047 will make the Gatekeeper route all H.323 calls to an E.164
alias starting with 0047 to this Gateway. This means that all other equipment has to be configured with
an E.164 alias that doesn't start with 0047. Exceptions from this rule are other Gateways to perform load
balancing.
Example IVR:
The GW shall be configured to have an H.323 dial-in number 1.
Set 'Type' to IVR and chose a bandwidth.
Set 'No. Significant Digits' to 0, 'From Nettype' to H.323, and 'From Prefix' to 1.
Set 'To Nettype' to ISDN and leave 'To Prefix' empty.
To call an ISDN endpoint with ISDN number 67141234 from H.323, dial 1and enter '67141234#' using DTMF.
Dialling rules for telephone connections are set up accordingly, with 'Bandwidth' set to Telephone.
