Getting to Know
the Osprey
Alert Mode Icon
Indicates that Alert mode has been activated on the Osprey. Refer to Using Alert Mode
on page 28 for more information.
User Identification Icon
This icon flashes after you have sent your user ID, or user ID and PIN, to ViewPoint.
The icon is steady once ViewPoint has confirmed that your login details are valid. Refer
to Logging In on page 21 for more information.
Standby Icon
This is displayed at the top of the screen when the keypad is locked in "standby mode".
The Osprey can continue to receive messages normally. See Keypad Lock on page 14.
Keypad Locked Icon
This is displayed while you are unlocking the keypad. See Keypad Lock on page 14.
Selecting Options
Any options that are available for you to select are displayed along the bottom of the screen. In the
Home page, you can select Mailbox and Settings options. You can select these using the Left and
Right Soft keys located below the option names.
Status Notifications
A range of status related information (such as battery state or sky view status) is shown on the screen
from time to time. For example:

Keypad Lock and Standby Mode

To avoid accidental key operation and conserve battery power, if you do not press a key for a set
period of time, the keypad locks, the screen brightness reduces, and only the icons and battery
charge indicator are displayed. This "standby" mode is designed to conserve battery power and
prevent accidental key operation.
