POSTERIOR OF LOWER LEG
Step Stretch
M U S C L E (S ) A F F E C T E D : gastrocnemius and soleus; also, achilles tendon
1. Have re ad y a ste p o r bo a rd 3 to 4 inch es high.
2. P lace ba lls o f both fe et on th e ste p or board, 1 inch from its edge.
3. W ith s tra ig h t legs, low er heels as fa r as posible.
4. H old fo r 10 to 15 se cond s.
5. To stre tch ac h ille s te n d o n , raise heels slightly. S lightly flex th e knees and th en low er th e heels.
This stretch will be felt in th e ac h ille s te ndon.
