7.5 LIFERAFT

Your boat can be equipped with an optional 8 person life-raft in canister or valaise.
Please refer to the manual supplied by its manufacturer for its proper use.
If installed in canister the life raft is secured inside the port aft section of the bridge-deck.
To release from the cockpit:
1. Untie the line on the horn cleat inside the port rear beam rope locker to open the
hatch.
2. Release the clutch inside the same locker and your raft will drop from below the vessel
tethered on its lanyard.
To release from underside bridge-deck.
3. Unscrew the latch by hand and open the hatch.
4. Cut the strap and take care to lift the canister and deploy.
5. The tether can be accessed safely from the port transom stairs.
In most emergencies the safest place is to remain on your boat. It is more visible, stable and
has more supplies than any life-raft. Some of the few scenarios where the raft should be used
is in case of uncontrollable fire or as a transport for sick/injured between yours and rescue
vessels in bad conditions.

7.6 CAPSIZE

Capsize is a possibility facing all multi-hulls albeit a remote one. The best way to avoid capsize
is restraint from pushing too hard for the conditions. Reef your sails appropriately. If at the
helm you feel any discomfort, the quickest response is to "luff" meaning bear into the wind on
a tack or bear away on a reach to depower your rig.
