SWITCHING FROM OVERDRIVE TO NORMAL
3.20
When in "Overdrive", and moving forward thru the water, you switch to "Neutral", and
due to the boat moving forward thru the water, the propeller will/should fold. Go back to
"Forward", and the propeller will open in "Normal" mode. To make sure this happens, you
can put the lever into "Reverse" just for a split second, before switching back to "Forward"
while the boat is still moving forward thru the water. When stopping the shaft from
rotating, the propeller will fold immediately, and open up in "Normal" mode when
switching back to "Forward"
3.21
SWITCHING FROM NORMAL TO OVERDRIVE
3.22
In order to open up in "Overdrive", the boat has to move backwards thru the water,
before switching to "Forward", this means the boat has to come to a stop, and physically
move backwards, before switching the lever back to "Forward"

3.23 WINCHES

The winches on your boat have 2 gears are all self-tailing with a combination of manual and
electric versions. All major control lines are located within close access to the helm.
The rope must always be wrapped in a clockwise direction 3-4 full turns to provide enough
friction to let out safely by hand and not damage the self-tailing jaws.
• If the line has a clutch or jammer ensure it is closed before winching.
• If the conditions demand a quick release of the sheet, tail by hand with clutches open.
• When using the electric winch at high speed you will hear the motor drop frequency. As
soon as this happens change gears or you can damage the winch.
• When letting out, hold hands well away from winch and be careful not to cross loops.
The winches will gradually get stiffer to use after prolonged use. This is because of salt and dirt
build-up within the winch and because of hardening of the internal grease. At least once a
year, winches must be thoroughly cleaned inside and re-greased.
When dismantling a winch or any deck fitting, have a bowl close at hand to put parts into. A
good practice is to circle the area with a rolled towel as a barrier to stop any dropped parts
rolling overboard. Be especially careful when dismantling winches as they contain small
springs that, when released, can fly overboard.
TROUBLESHOOTING
All deck hardware should be regularly washed down with fresh water to minimize seizing, rust
and salt build up. Deck equipment that is stiff or has not been used for some time is best
lubricated with a silicon-based lubricant to provide a protective coating and avoid jamming.
Only winches need annual disassembly and greasing.
