CAUTION

improper or excessively tight application
► Ensure that the orthosis is applied properly and fits correctly.
► Inform the patient.

Use of a worn or damaged product

► Instruct the patient to inspect the product for proper functionality, wear
and damage prior to each use.
► Advise the patient that the product must not be used if the product or
part of the product exhibits signs of wear (e.g. cracks, deformation,
poor fit) or damage.
A pad is also available in addition to the orthosis and can be ordered as a
service part if necessary.
1) Optional – install the pad: Use the hook and loop closure to attach the
pad to the inside of the orthosis so that it is at least 1 cm above the seat
surface when seated.
2) Applying (see Fig. 1): Place the orthosis around the trunk. Place the fin­
gers in the hand straps of the abdominal closure. Apply equal force to
both sides to pull the orthosis forward.
3) Hook and loop material (see Fig. 2): Attach the right part to the top of
the left part of the abdominal closure. Remove the fingers from the left
and then from the right hand strap. Ensure that the hook and loop mater­
ial sections lie flat against each other and are not in contact with clothing
or skin.
4) Increasing compression: Pull the ends of the elastic straps forward
(see Fig. 3) and attach them to the bottom closure (see Fig. 4).
5) Final check: The correct fit and proper positioning of the orthosis must
be checked during handover to the patient. The orthosis is seated cor­
rectly when the lower edge of the orthosis extends just below the groin.
6) Instruct the patient: Explain to the patient how to don the orthosis and
ensure that it is seated correctly. Practice donning and doffing of the
orthosis with the patient.
4.3 Cleaning
Clean the orthosis regularly.
