▌Activating RACE START
Requirements:
The vehicle is switched on and the transmis-

sion and the engine are at normal operating
temperature.
The driver's door is closed.
R
The front wheels are in a straight-ahead posi-
R
tion.
The vehicle is on level ground.
R
The vehicle is stationary, the brake pedal is
R
depressed (left foot) and the parking brake is
released.
The transmission is in position h.
R
The DRIFT MODE is deactivated.
R
One of the drive programs C, B or
R
I is selected ( page 184).

Rapidly depress the accelerator pedal fully.

The engine speed will increase.

If the activation conditions are not fulfilled,
RACE START cannot be used. The

In this phase, you can adjust RACE START
depending on the road conditions: you can
vary the engine speed by pulling on one of the
steering wheel gearshift paddles. The seg-
ments on the instrument display will flicker
rapidly.

If the brake pedal is not released after a short
while, RACE START will be cancelled. The

DRIFT MODE
▌Functions of DRIFT MODE

DRIFT MODE is available only for the
Mercedes‑AMG GT 63 S and GT 63 S E Per-
formance models or for vehicles with the
AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package.
DRIFT MODE allows you to intentionally make the
vehicle unstable and induce oversteer (drifting).
All activation conditions must be fulfilled for this
( page 253).

Only a highly qualified and experienced driver
should drive in DRIFT MODE.
