Viper TX – Operation Instructions 1 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter explains the meaning of safety terms for personnel who operate this equipment, important safety instructions and the positions of the warning labels. Important • Be sure to follow all instructions and warnings on this manual when using the equipment.
Stop using your printer if a liquid is spilled into it. This may cause electrical shock or fire. Turn the printer off as soon as possible, unplug the power cord, contact your local MUTOH dealer. Be sure to use the attached cable. Otherwise, electrical shock or fire may occur.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions When handling the foot switch, be aware of the following: Do not place anything heavy on the foot switch. Do not bend the cable of the foot switch with force and do not pull. Do not place the foot switch near thermal devices.
When cleaning labels, use a cloth with water or neutral detergent. Do not use a solvent or gasoline. • If a warning label is damaged, lost or cannot be recognized, replace the label. Viper TX – Operation Instructions 3.3 TRANSFER AND TRANSPORTATION Important • Do not transport, lift or push the printer with a forklift or other lifting tools. This to avoid distortion of the machine. • Do not push against the tensioning bars; these are very fragile.
When you transport the printer, the printer should be repacked in the original box and packing materials, to protect it from vibration or impact. Notes • When you transport the printer, contact your local MUTOH dealer for assistance. Notes • Ink must be replaced by cleaning liquid.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions Step 4 : Check if the edges of the loop are aligned on each other. Step 5 : Slide the end of the synthetic paper strip (1) under the pressure rollers (4) in position 1 of the printer until the synthetic paper strip (1) is a little tensioned.

Step 1 : Turn off the printer and your computer. Step 2 : Plug the cable connector of the interface cable into the interface connector at the back of the printer.
Viper TX – Operation Instructions 3.6.2 Connecting the foot switch for the pressure roller If the pressure roller needs to be raised or lowered, it is possible to control this motion from the foot switch, instead of doing so at the operation panel.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions 4.5 INSTALLING THE FABRIC 4.5.1 Installing the fabric roll and empty core Procedure : Step 1 : Determine the printable side of the fabric roll (inside or outside printing) and lay down the fabric roll as shown in the images below.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions 4.6 INSTALLING FABRIC RETAINERS OR INK COLLECTORS Caution • Always use the fabric retainers when the fabric has rough finished borders. • When choosing edgeprinting, the fabric retainers can’t be used. Refer to : Ink collectors and edge printing menu.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions 4.6.3 Installing procedure for fabric retainers Caution • When choosing edgeprintng, the fabric retainers can’t be used. • Verify if the fabric retainers are firmly fixed inside the gutter to prevent contact with the print head.
Viper TX – Operation Instructions 4.7 USING THE INK ABSORBENTS These absorbents are developed to absorb the ink spoiled at the edges of the fabrics. This tool is meant for especially edge-to-edge printing. But it is also recommended to install the absorbents for normal printing (with margin), this only when you do not (need to) use the fabric retainers.
Viper TX – Operation Instructions 4.8 INSTALLING PRESSURE ROLLER DISABLER TOOLS The pressure roller disabler tool allows a pressure roller to be lifted while printing, thus providing extra space. Caution • Be sure not to push the Pressure roller disabler tool too far! Otherwise the pressure roller will break.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions 5.2.1.2 Replacement procedure Caution • When handling ink cassettes, be careful that ink does not get in your eyes or on your skin. However, if this happens, flush imfabrictely with water. Otherwise, your eyes may become congested or slightly inflamed. If you feel discomfort, consult a doctor imfabrictely.

Notes • When using the feature of edge printing, the ink collector must be used. After use, the ink collector can be rinsed with water from the rinsing bottle.

Grab the mesh by the sides and take it out as shown in the image below. Step 5 : Rinse the mesh with Mutoh water based textile cleaning liquid, until the ink is removed. Step 6 : Place the clean mesh on a dust free cloth for 1 minute, to drain most liquid.
When to perform? Cleaning around the heads must be performed weekly. Caution • Only use Mutoh water based textile cleaning liquid. • Only use swabs of the Good shape kit. Step 1 : Power ON the printer and go to the WiperClean Setup Menu. This will cause the unlocking of the carriage.

Viper TX – Operation Instructions Step 4 : Clean the sides of the heads with a cleaning swab wetted by Mutoh water based textile cleaning liquid. Make sure you do not touch the nozzle plate; this would lead to bad print quality.
Do not blow off fabric dust inside the printer using compressed air. Doing so may cause noise to occur from inside the printer. Caution • Please only use Mutoh water based textile cleaning liquid or cleaning liquid recommended by the ink supplier. Caution •...
Viper TX – Operation Instructions 5.3.8 Change the sponge assy at the back of the capping station When to perform? The sponge assy must be replaced every 3 months. Step 1 : Power ON the printer and go to the “Head Unlock setup menu”. This will cause the unlocking of the carriage.
When to perform? The wipers must be changed every 6 months. According to the periodical service of the Viper TX printer, wipers should be replaced every 6 months. The periodical services ensure a stable printout quality of the machine. Caution •...
