Using the Main Menu

16.1.6 Selecting Cable Type

The Cable Type menu is used to enable support for IP cameras. The system can add an
additional 16 IP camera channels, which can be added to the existing 16 channels for a to-
tal of 32 channels by pressing the Add IP Cam button. IP cameras can also replace exist-
ing channels. See 23 Connecting Cameras to the Local Area Network (LAN), page 163 for
more information on using IP cameras with the system.
The Cable Type menu is also used if you are using cabling with a resistance higher than
10Ω per 100m (330ft) and you are having picture quality issues.
To configure cable type options:
1. From the Main Menu, click
2. Under each channel, select one of the following options:
• Coaxial: Default for MPX cameras.
• UTP: Use with MPX cameras only if you are using cabling with resistance higher
than 10Ω per 100m (330ft) and you are having picture quality issues.
• Analog: Default for analog cameras.
• IP: Check to switch the selected channel to accept an IP camera.
3. Click OK to save changes. The system will restart.
