When connecting instruments within the Mercury System or connecting a
local PC to the Mercury System via a hub or router, use straight cables. Do
not use the UPLINK port unless you are connecting to a network or
another hub.
When connecting instruments within the Mercury System or connecting a
with UPLINK
local PC to the Mercury System via a hub or router with an UPLINK port,
use a crossover cable on the UPLINK port connection and a straight cable
on the other port connections.
Table 4–5 describes possible firmware and communications malfunctions
and provides the recommended action to take to restore the system to
normal operation.

seconds, then power up the 80i.

Diagnostics > System
Configuration and ensure it
reflects actual 81i IP address, left
justified.
Verify 81i is not in Service mode,
set to OFF, if necessary.
When attempting to
communicate directly between
instruments, a crossover cable is
required. If using an Ethernet
hub/switch port (other than
UPLINK), straight cables are
required.
Verify cable functionality, replace
if necessary.
Verify hub LEDs are lit.
