The swing brake is applied when the brake spring. (16, Figure 4) locks up the friction plate (11), split plate
(12) and swing motor casing (301), preventing the motor drive shaft from turning. When hydraulic pressure
is forced to the back side of the brake piston, the friction plate and swing motor casing are separated,
releasing the brake.
