Operation Configuration

The Operation tab is for each serial port's operation mode configuration. The opera-
tion mode determines whether the devices that are connected to the serial port will
operate as a master or a slave, and whether the Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII pro-
tocol will be used.
Modbus Slave Mode:
Type:
This option specifies whether the Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII slave devices are
connected to the serial port.
Modbus Timeouts (ms):
This option specifies the time duration in milliseconds for the EKI-122X series to wait
for a response after it has issued a command while using Modbus/RTU or Modbus
ASCII. After the timeout is expired and no response is received, the EKI-122X series
will regard the command as failed. Note that the timeout for the host PC must be
greater than the timeout setting here specified, otherwise an error will occur.
ASCII Character Timeouts (ms):
This option specifies the time interval in milliseconds between characters within the
Modbus/ASCII message. If a greater interval occurs, the receiving device assumes
an error has occurred.
