4.4 Installing the Guide Rails and Chassis

Scenario
Install the chassis in a standard cabinet.

Remove the packing case of the CMA.
The CMA is optional.
Remove the packing case of the guide rails.
The guide rails are optional.
Precautions
– Three persons are required to move and install a chassis.
– Three persons are required to hold the left and right edges of an empty
chassis and exert even force. Do not hold the upper edge of the chassis
because this may damage the chassis shell.
– Each chassis must be installed on the guide rails in a cabinet. Do not
stack chassis in a cabinet.
– Leave 1U space under each chassis to facilitate heat dissipation if cable
management arms (CMAs) are installed and there is sufficient space in
the cabinet. If CMAs are not installed and there is little space, you can
install chassis without leaving 1U space under them.
