9. Install the 3/8" hex head cap screw with the jam nut to the tail pulley on both sides of the tail
section. Figure 23 illustrates the hex head cap screw that holds the tail pulley on one side of the
tail section and the nylock jam nut on one side of the tail section. The torque requirement for the
hex jam nut is 31 ft-lb.
10. Install the 3/8" serrated flange nuts on the bracket that holds the tail pulley on both sides of the
tail section. Figure 22 illustrates the location of the hardware on one side of the tail section. The
torque requirement for the serrated flange nuts is 31 ft-lb.
11. Ensure that the pulley is square with the tail section.
12. Re-tension the AC belt by moving the tensioner rod at the drive section to its original position.
13. Run the conveyor to ensure that the belt is properly tensioned and tracked. If the AC belt requires
tensioning and tracking, refer to section 5.4 of this manual.

6.5 Drive Pulley Replacement

The following instructions outline the BSBAC 1 HP drive pulley replacement procedure.
1. Ensure that the power to the AC motor is switched off. Bastian Solutions recommends using
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for this operation.
2. Mark/measure the position of the tensioner rods on the drive section of the conveyor.
3. Loosen the take-up equally on both sides of the conveyor. This relaxes the belt tension across
the conveyor. To loosen the take-up pulley, move the take-up bearings towards the upstream
side of the conveyor.
4. Remove the cap from the end of the AC motor gearbox. Remove the 7/16" hex head cap screw
and the 3/8" retaining washer from the shaft end of the AC motor gearbox.
5. Remove the M8 shoulder bolt and nylock nut holding the torque arm to the motor.
6. Slide out the AC motor and gearbox. Figure 25 illustrates this operation with an exploded view.
