Please make sure that the E-Stop for the AC motor is connected prior to next step. The
E-stop may be required to quickly kill power to the AC motor to preserve life of the belt
for tracking purposes.
7. Turn the conveyor on and allow the belt to run for at least 2 complete revolutions.
8. If the belt does not properly track, adjust the snub pulleys in the tail sections and drive section.
When adjustments are made they should be minor. 1/16" adjustment to a snub pulley will have a
large impact on the way the belt tracks.
9. The snub rollers are attached to the frame via the snub roller bracket and (4) 3/8" carriage bolts
and serrated flange nuts. Loosen the carriage bolts and wiz nuts on the snub roller bracket on
both ends of the snub roller to begin adjustments.
10. If the belt is tracking towards the right, move the left side of the snub roller forward. If the belt is
tracking towards the left, move the right side of the snub roller forward. Refer to Figure 17.
When initially tracking the belt, ensure that the belt does not ride on a side frame for an
extended period of time as the snub roller is adjusted to track the belt. This can
damage the belt.
11. If the belt is still not tracking, adjust the snub rollers along the conveyor frame that are close to
the portion that is tracking improperly. Refer to Figure 17.
12. When the belt runs twice its run length without requiring additional adjustments, then the belt is
tracked properly.
13. Tighten the 3/8" carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts on the snub roller brackets to hold a
specific adjustment position. The torque requirement for 3/8" carriage bolt and serrated flange nut
is 31 ft-lbs.
14. Be sure to verify that the belt is tracking on both the conveying side and return side of the belt. If
improper tracking of the belt still persists, contact your Bastian Solutions' conveyor representative
for technical assistance.
For further reference on belt tracking, refer to Habasit Fabric Conveyor Belts Installation and Maintenance
Guide (6040).
