Device Replacement Operations
If the device parameters have been saved in a file with the CompoBus/D Confi-
gurator, new settings can be made very easily by writing the device parameters
in the event that the device has to be replaced.
When the CompoBus/D network is operating properly, use the following proce-
dure to back up the device parameters.
1. Connect the CompoBus/D Configurator to the network.
2. Switch the Configurator to online operation and select "Device List" from the
View menu.
3. Select "Save" or "Save as" from the File menu and save the network configu-
ration in a network configuration file.
The network configuration file saves every Slave's device parameters.
After replacing a device, use the following procedure to write the device parame-
ters from the network configuration file to the device.
With some devices, it is necessary to set the node address and baud rate before-
hand through the network. In this case, select the "Node Address/Communica-
tion Rate Setup" command from the Tool menu and set these parameters so that
the Configurator can communicate with the device.
The following procedure assumes that there are no changes in the network con-
figuration itself. When there are changes, use the "Edit Device Parameters"
command to save each device's device parameters in a file, read the file after
replacement, and write the parameters to the device.
1. Connect the CompoBus/D Configurator to the network.
2. Select "Open" from the File menu and read the network configuration that
was backed up in a file.
3. Switch the Configurator to online operation, select the replaced device from
the device list, and display the Edit Device Parameters window for that
device. (See 3-6-5 Editing Master Parameters for details on displaying the
Edit Device Parameters window.)
4. Click on "Write to Device" to write the device parameters to the device.
