7. STARTING THE ENGINE

• Make sure the battery switch is
ON before turning ON the
ignition switch or power switch.
If the battery switch is OFF while
attempting to start the engine,
the buzzer will sound three times.

Fuel Priming

ARROW
OUTLET END
(outboard motor side)
PRIMING BULB
INLET END
(tank side)
Hold the priming bulb so that the
outlet end is higher than the inlet (so
that the arrow on the priming bulb
points up), and squeeze it until it feels
firm, indicating that fuel has reached
the outboard motor. Check for leaks.

WARNING
Be careful not to spill any fuel.
Spilled fuel vapor may ignite. If
any fuel is spilled, make sure the
area is dry before starting the
engine.
Do not touch the priming bulb with
the engine running or when tilting
up the outboard motor. The vapor
separator could overflow.

WARNING
Exhaust contains poisonous
carbon monoxide which can
cause unconsciousness and may
lead to death. Never run the
outboard motor in a boat house or
other confined area.
To prevent damage to the outboard
from overheating, never run the
engine with the propeller out of
water.
