HI 2160RC
MANUAL
NOTE:
8-24
The Set Point Low (SPL) setting is the lowest rate in the
process flow rate range that the instrument will operate in
gravimetric mode. As you will recall gravimetric mode is
when the controller is in closed loop operation, where the
controller actually controls the rate of flow.
It is important to understand that at start up the feed rate will not be within the feed
rate range. The system operates in the (Volumetric) Rate Exception Mode (REC) until
the feeder is dispensing at the selected feed rate range at which time rate control
begins.
For Example:
An HI 2160RC
tion feeder with a feed rate range of 3 - 6 lbs/min. When
the vibration feeder first starts, it only dispenses about ½
lb/min. At this operating point the feeder does not need
control and is operating in volumetric mode or open loop.
Once the feeder starts to dispense material in the range of
the set point rates, the controller automatically switches
from volumetric mode to gravimetric mode and begins
again to control the flow rate.
Press the Clear button to clear any values.
Use the numeric keys to enter the new value. Enter any
value as long as it is lower than the SPH (Set Point High)
value.
Press the Enter button to accept the new value.
Press the down arrow ↓ until the cursor is to the left of the
Set Point High (SPH) sub-menu.
Step 8. Setting the Set Point High (SPH) Parameter. (See Fig. 8-27)
The Set Point High (SPH) setting is the highest rate in the
process flow rate range that the instrument will operate in
gravimetric mode. As you will recall gravimetric mode is
when the controller is in closed loop operation, where the
controller actually controls the rate of flow. For Example:
An HI 2160RC PLUS is controlling the feed rate of a
vibration feeder with a feed rate range of 3 - 6 lbs/min.
From time to time the vibration feeder exceeds 6 lbs/min.
At this operating point the feeder is not controlled and is
operating in volumetric mode or open loop. Once the
feeder starts to dispense material in the range of the set
point rates, the controller automatically switches from
volumetric mode to gravimetric mode and begins again to
control the flow rate.
Press the Clear button to clear any values.
