6. Calibration

Information:
The Hygropin probes have an imprinted characteristic.
The following procedure explains a 3-point calibration to re-adjust the in-situ and ambient probe.
The 3-point calibration is conducted with 3 different humidity standards which are traceable to na-
tional standards: 10%RH, 35%RH and 80%RH.
The temperature sensor must not be calibrated. Reason: unnecessary due minimal drift, source of
errors and required equipment goes beyond the scope of ASPO.
Please consider following in general:
- Room temperature: 23°C ±2K
- No drafts in the calibration room.
- No direct sunshine.
- The values of the humidity standards apply at 23°C.
- If the temperature is different from the standard temperature of 23°C, the corresponding value of
the humidity standard has to be taken into account.
Attention :
Probe, calibrating device and the humidity standard must be at the same temperature.
1K temperature difference between the humidity standard and probe can result in up
6%RH humidity error.

Preparation of Calibration Device
Procedure :
Remove the knurled lid of the calibration device.
Insert the probe carefully into the calibration cham-
ber and seal it by screwing the holder.
Place a textile pad in the lid of the calibration
device.
Preparation of Humidity Standard
Procedure :
Hold the ampoule of the selected humidity standard
at the neck and bring the entire contents into the
further, lower part of the ampoule by swinging or
lightly tapping against the glass.
Apply Humidity Standard
Procedure :
Break the ampoule at the marked area and empty it
completely on the center of the textile pad while
tapping it lightly
.
