3.2 Contraindications
The SOMNOvent ST should not be used with
certain diseases or only with particular cau-
tion. In each case the decision whether to use
SOMNOvent ST for therapy lies with the doc-
tor in charge.
This includes:
•
cardiac decompensation
•
severe cardiac dysrhythmia
•
severe hypotension, particular in conjunc-
tion with intravascular volume depletion
•
severe epistaxis
•
high risk of barotrauma
•
ventilatory insufficiency due to a cause
other than OSA
•
noctural hypoxaemia of an origin other
than OSA (obesity-hypoventilation syn-
drome)
•
pneumothorax or pneumomediastinum
•
pneumo-encephalus
•
cranial trauma
•
status after brain operation and surgical
procedure performed on hypophysis or
middle or inner ear
•
acute sinusitis, inflammation of the middle
ear (otitis media) or eardrum perforation
•
dehydration
Threatening situations were not observed with
SOMNOvent ST.
