DPC-2 CONTROL KIT Manual #50-06
7. Depress the CHANNEL 1 button until the LED to the left of LINE is illuminated.
Select the value 04.00 by depressing the DIGIT button and rotating the VALUE knob.
The DPC-2 would produce a solid glue line four inches in length if the machine were
to run at this point in the programming.
8. Depress the CHANNEL 1 button until the LED to the left of GAP is illuminated.
Select the value 00.50 by depressing the DIGIT button and rotating the VALUE knob.
The glue LINE length is divided by the GAP to produce the appropriate number of
dots. The dot duration is determined by the value entered into SPIKE TIME and the
response capability of the glue applicator.
9. Depress the CHANNEL 1 button until the LED to the left of STITCH is illuminated.
The value of this parameter should read 00.00 since dots are desired.
10. Depress the CHANNEL 1 button until the LED to the left of SPIKE TIME is
illuminated. Use the DIGIT button and VALUE knob to set the appropriate SPIKE
TIME for the Glue Applicator (approximately 2ms, 002.0). This value can be adjusted
as the glue system is operating until the desired dot size is achieved.
11. Depress the RUN/STOP button until the LED above this button is illuminated. The
glue system is now ready for operation.
12. At this point some product should be run at very slow speeds (50 feet per minute or
less). Assure that the Low Speed Turn On setting in the CONSTANTS parameter is
set to a value below L050 (see Chapter 3 for more information on Low Speed Turn
On/Cut Off). Examine the finished product to assure the DPC-2 Control Unit's
settings are satisfactory. Keep in mind that the "dot" pattern will produce slightly
larger dots at the slow speed that at your maximum speed because the "on time" to
produce the dot is determined by the SPIKE TIME. Make any adjustments for dot size
once the machine is operating at normal production speeds. Follow the above
procedure and change values where necessary. PRE-DELAY is inaccurately set if the
first pattern begins too close or far from the leading edge of the product at slow
speeds.
13. Run the machine at full production speed once results are satisfactory at slow speeds.
Adjust COMPENSATION as necessary (see Chapter 3) to obtain the desired pattern
placement at production speeds.
14. Set the Low Speed Turn On/Cut Off parameter to the desired value in the
CONSTANTS menu.
