Pre-Delay

PRE-DELAY is defined as the distance from the center of an optical trigger device to the
center of the actuator's glue orifice. This parameter is used to determine how much
distance the DPC-2 will wait prior to commencing the first event (i.e. delay and line) of
the glue pattern. Accurate measurement of this distance is important for the proper
operation of the glue system. The value programmed for PRE-DELAY affects both glue
channels. It is, therefore, necessary for all glue applicators to be installed in-line,
perpendicular to product movement direction or to "cheat" by adding some of the PRE-
DELAY value into the DELAY of the first gluing event. (See "A Multiple EVENT Glue
Pattern" in Chapter 4.)
1. Depress the SYSTEM button until the yellow LED to the left of PRE-DELAY is
illuminated.
2. Depress the DIGIT button until the desired granularity is obtained.
3. Rotate the VALUE knob until the desired setting is selected. Values are in inches with

Servo Mode

The DPC-2 provides a proportional output for the control of glue pressure as machine
speed is modified. This parameter may only be accessed when the LED above the
RUN/STOP button is not illuminated. Three different outputs are available from the
SERVO connector at the bottom of the control unit:
The 0 to 10 VDC output is most commonly used with hot melt Adhesive Supply Units
(ASU's) possessing gear pumps and a DC driver card. Be certain the DC driver card is
properly isolated. Refer to the instruction manual of the hot melt ASU and Chapter 2 of
this manual for further instruction on the proper connection to hot melt equipment.
The 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA are most commonly used with Pressure Transducer
devices. The ITW Dynatec Pressure Transducer Assembly (105754) uses the 4 to 20 mA
SERVO output for its control. Refer to Chapter 2 of this manual for further information
on the proper wiring of this equipment.
