DPC-2 CONTROL KIT Manual #50-06
3. Are DELAY and LINE values programmed?
A program may have been inadvertently selected from MEMORY that has no DELAY or
LINE information entered.
4. Is the Trigger Device activated for at least 1 millisecond?
The DPC-2 avoids "false triggers" by requiring the Trigger Device to be activated for at
least one millisecond. You can calculate the length of time the Trigger Device will be
activated by measuring the length of the Trigger Target and dividing this number by the
maximum production speed. The Trigger Target is the object that causes the Trigger
Device to activate. Examples are the length of a printing mark or the length of a carton at
the point that passes directly beneath the sensor. Proximity Sensor installations would use
the width of the cam passing in front of the sensor.
Example: Trigger Target Length = 0.50 inches (0.50/12 = 0.042 feet) Maximum Machine
Speed = 1,000 fpm. The Trigger Device is activated for 0.042/1,000 minutes x 60
seconds/minute = .0025 seconds or 2.5 milliseconds. This scenario is acceptable since the
duration of Trigger activation exceeds 1 millisecond.
5. Is the red LED above the RUN/STOP button illuminated?
The glue system will not operate if the DPC-2 Control Unit is in the STOP mode (red
LED above the RUN/STOP button is dim).
6. Is the Trigger Device operating properly?
The TRIGGER Status LED in the upper right corner of the DPC-2 Control Unit Display
Panel should illuminate for the duration of each TRIGGER input. Troubleshoot the
Trigger Device and connection cable if the Status LED is not illuminating.
7. Is the Glue Delivery System operating properly?
Adequate glue pressure must be supplied by the Glue Delivery System to assure proper
adhesive flow from the Applicator. Also, voltage measurements can be made from the
Drive Output of the DPC-2 Control Unit to determine whether it is functioning properly.
8. Does adequate glue pressure exist?
a.
Is the hot melt ASU pump turned on? Is it operating properly?
b.
Is adequate factory air pressure being supplied to operate pneumatic
applicators? What about air pressurized glue systems (i.e. piston pumps,
fluid regulators, etc.)?
c.
Is the DPC-2 SERVO MODE parameter in the OFF setting? (see Chapter
3)
d.
Is the machine operating at speeds above Low Speed Turn On? (see
Chapter 3)
e.
Are the DPC-2 CONSTANTS properly programmed? (see Chapter 3)
