DPC-2 CONTROL KIT Manual #50-06
NOTE: Before any assumptions are made regarding an apparent fault, first check the
input supply voltage. The voltage should be within ± 10% of the rated supply (i.e.
115VAC or 230VAC). Any variation from these parameters can result in controller
malfunction.

1. Is the Trigger Device (photo eye) too far from the Glue Applicator?
The DPC-2 could still be performing a gluing cycle on "Product #1" when "Product #2"
is detected if the physical distance between the Trigger Device and Glue Applicator is
greater than the gap between pieces of product. The DPC-2 Control Unit will not respond
to a Trigger Signal until the previous gluing cycle has been completed.
2. Is the LOCKOUT setting correct?
A LOCKOUT value greater than the length of the product plus gap between pieces will
lock out the Trigger input from alternating sheets being fed. This will result in either
missed gluing patterns or delayed gluing patterns on every second sheet.

A continual movement of the glue pattern in the same direction, either advancing or
retarding on the products being glued over a period of time is an indication of encoder
problems.
1. The DPC-2 requires a 100 Pulse Per Inch encoder input to properly
calculate speed and distance.
The ITW Dynatec Encoder Kit (L21702) is designed to supply 100 PPI provided the
supplied wheel is being driven in a 1:1 ratio to machine production speed. The encoder
will require re-installation at another position on the machine if this ratio does not exist.
2. Is the encoder wheel slipping or bouncing as the machine drives it?
Continual slippage or bouncing will result in inaccurate speed and distance calculations.
3. Is the product changing speed from the time the trigger device senses
its leading edge to the point at which the glue is applied?
This situation is particularly prevalent on magazine-fed machines where the glue is being
applied a short distance from the magazine feed point. The trigger and glue applicator
may have to be moved further from the magazine feed point to assure the product is
actually travelling at machine speed when it is both detected and glued.
