Counter Parameters

Parameter Description
Diagnostics Activate/deactivate the channel-specific diagnostics:
Short circuit sensor
- lock ①

- unlock
Counter function Use the module as counter and/or as incremental encoder as
the counter function. This setting is selected in the description
file:
- Counter + incremental encoder
- Counter
- Incremental encoder
Counter mode Select the counter mode in this field.
The following options are available:
Up/down counter (event counter)
The up/down counter counts the detected pulses at the coun‐
ter input
- Gate time/frequency
The counter counts the pulses detected within the selectable
gate time at the counter input
- Gate time/period duration
The counter determines the pulse duration of the pulses in μs
The following modes can only be used if the module is config‐
ured as encoder "counter":
- Pulse duration counter
The counter determines the pulse duration of the last detected
pulse
- Pulse width counter
The counter determines the pulse width modulation PWM ratio
of the input signal.
- AB counter
Output of the sum (channel 1) or the difference (channel 2) of
both counts of channel 1 and channel 2. The sum is selected
using the control byte of the process image (see
10.3.3 "Control Bytes" on page
value for the process image)
Note:
The function is available in the background.
Gate time Enter the values for the gate time:
- 1 ms
- 10 ms
- 100 ms
- 1000 ms
