General information

The S67-HTL-INC-M12 module is a mixed module that is designed to con‐
nect 2 incremental encoders or counters. Each input can individually be con‐
figured to one of the encoder types.
Furthermore, at two connections, two signal channels each can be parame‐
terized as digital input or digital output. Thus, up to four digital sensors and
actuators can be connected. The signal channels can be configured as sub
signals of the counter channels, e.g. gate, latch, preset or cam.
The following connections are possible:
2 × M12, A-coded, 8-pin, optionally to connect HTL incremental encod‐
ers or counters
2 × M12, A-coded, 5-pin, can optionally be used as digital inputs, out‐
puts DIO (optionally as pulse width modulation (PWM) output)
Counter function:
Function counter interface
An input can be defined as counting direction channel for the counter
channel. This input is the input defined as "B-channel" of the same con‐
nection
Incremental encoder interface function
In the function as incremental encoder interface, the module records the
pulses of a connected incremental encoder. Due to the functionality of
both clock signals, the direction of rotation of the encoder is automatical‐
ly detected. Optionally, a C-track can be connected. Via this track a zero
set or preset pulse can be triggered
Counter mode:
Up/down counter (event counter)
In the basic function "counter", the S67-HTL-INC-M12 module counts
the pulses at the pulse input The counting direction is automatically re‐
corded
Gate time/frequency measurement
The pulses detected within the gate time are detected (in case of a gate
time of 1 s, the frequency is displayed in Hz)
Gate time/period duration
The period duration is specified in μs
Pulse duration measurement
This determines the duration of the latest detected pulse. The maximum
detectable pulse duration is 1 s. The pulse duration can be changed by
changing the gate time.
The pulse duration measurement operates at a gate time of ≤ 10 ms
with an accuracy of approx. 1 μs
Pulse width ratio
The PWM ratio of the input signal is determined. The minimum frequen‐
cy that can be detected is 1 Hz. The frequency can be changed by
changing the gate time. At a gate time of 1 ms, the pulse width meas‐
urement operates with an accuracy of 0.01 % in case of frequencies up
to 1 kHz. In case of higher frequencies, the accuracy decreases (0.01 *
frecuency/1000) %
