Raman Spectroscopy Bundle
Calibration of the Coded Matrix with the Camera
The Raman-scattered light passes through the coded matrix with defined slits at the input aper-
ture of the RSB1(/M). This leads to exposure of certain pixels in the camera. The Thorlabs OSA
Raman Software then calculates the Raman spectrum based on the acquired image and the
corresponding information about the position in the coded matrix. Therefore, the information on
slit position and corresponding pixels on the camera needs to be loaded into the Thorlabs OSA
Raman Software and this is referred to as "Calibration".
The folder RSB1-"Serial Number" on the USB stick contains the calibration data for the camera.
The file name indicates the serial number of the device. Please load this calibration data set
into the Thorlabs OSA Raman Software via the below interface when first using the device.

Laser Wavelength
The wavelength of the excitation laser needs to be precisely determined, as the wavenumber x-
axis scale depends on the wavelength of the excitation laser. Only with the precise laser
wavelength can Raman specs be compared between different experimental setups. Please find

Primary scale of spectrum
This option changes the primary units of the spectrum between "Wavelength" and "Wavenum-
bers" after performing the laser calibration described in chapter
