Installation

Risk caused by falling!
Work is carried out directly at the chamber opening during installation of the pump and its accessories!
Carelessness or incorrect footwear can lead to falls. There is a danger to life!
Take all safety measures necessary to prevent this.
Wet installation with automatic coupling system
Details can be found in the installation and operating instructions for the relevant engineering chambers
(chamber system) from Kessel AG. All of the connections needed for the pump have been integrated in the
chamber module in the factory.
The following work has to be performed on site:
Installation of the chamber system (set-up incl. upper section and cover)
Screw and secure the coupling unit to the pump. Fit the coupling counterflange of the automatic coupling
system to the pump pressure ports (threaded and flange connection). Smear the outer thread of any threaded
connection with a suitable adhesive, bolt flange to the pump, then fix with the grub screw and leave to dry
Make sure that the rubber profiled seal (as a waterproofing layer against the coupling base) is fitted firmly in
the counterflange so that it cannot fall out when the pump is lowered into place
Attach a chain to the pump handle or lifting lugs. Chains are used to lower a pump into and pull it out of the
service room. They are not intended to secure a suspended pump
Guide the pump between the guide pipes in the chamber with the guide claws of the coupling counterflange.
Lower the pump into the chamber. When the pump comes to rest on the coupling base it is automatically
sealed off against the discharge pipe and is ready for operation.
Suspend the end of the lowering chain on a hook in the chamber opening. (Shorten the pump chain as
necessary)
Attaching the level probe
Drill cable conduit and bleeding pipes and lay the lines
Suspend the pump's motor connection cable in the chamber at a suitable length with a strain relief fitting. Make
sure that the cables cannot be bent or damaged.
Clean the chamber of any solids (rubble, stones etc.) before commissioning.
Automatic level control (Fig. 5)
If the water level rises to a certain
level (switch-on point) the pump is switched on
automatically. When the water level has dropped to a certain
minimum level (switch-off point) by pumping off,
the pump is switched off.
The switching gap, i.e. the difference in water level between
the switch-on and -off point, can be set individually.
We recommend that you use the default switching levels of the
KESSEL control units. This thus guarantees
a controlled automatic mode S3.
However, please observe the following instructions to ensure
a perfect function:
Always make sure that the pump's switch-on point
is below the inlet pipe so as to prevent any backwater
