6. Troubleshooting
Check List
When the general status of ETERNUS Web GUI is
Check whether the mini SAS HD cable between enclosures is connected in the correct order or check that the l
(IN) and n (OUT) side of the mini SAS HD cable between enclosures is connected correctly. If the mini SAS HD
cable between enclosures is not connected correctly, use the procedure that is shown below to reconnect the
mini SAS HD cable between enclosures.
When a mini SAS HD cable between enclosures is not connected

Press the controller enclosure's Power switch for four seconds or more to turn off the ETERNUS DX.
Drive enclosures with no mini SAS HD cable between enclosures connected will remain on.

Connect the mini SAS HD cable between enclosures while the drive enclosure is on.

Press the controller enclosure's Power switch to turn on the ETERNUS DX.
When the l (IN) and n (OUT) sides of the mini SAS HD cable between enclosures are incorrectly connected or
the cable is connected in the wrong order

Press the controller enclosure's Power switch for four seconds or more to turn off the ETERNUS DX, and
turn off the AC power.

Reconnect the mini SAS HD cable between enclosures.

Make sure that AC power is being supplied, then turn the ETERNUS DX on.
When the FAULT LED Blinks
Check the general status and the system messages in ETERNUS Web GUI. A general status of
that the ETERNUS DX contains a component that requires preventive maintenance.
In the details screen for each component, check the detailed information for each component with the
symbol and contact your maintenance engineer.

When the DRIVE FAULT LED Is On
Check the drive status.
While the Protection (Shield) function is being used, the DRIVE FAULT LED is temporarily turned on. For details
on how the Protection (Shield) function works and how to check whether it is running, refer to "Design Guide".
If the problem persists, contact your maintenance engineer.
