TYPE OF PROBLEM
The burner does not start.
(the appliance does not per-
form the ignition program).
Defective flame with sparks
Flame not properly shaped
with presence of smoke and
soot
Defective flame (flickering or
escaping from combustion
head)
Corrosion in the boiler.
Soot at chimney outlet
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1) Thermostats (boiler or environment) or pres-
sure switches open
2) Photoresistant-cell in short circuit
3) No voltage with an open main circuit breaker
or cutoff switch at the meter or line voltage
failure
4) Thermostat line not wired according to
diagram or there may be an open thermostat
5) Fault in the appliance
1) Atomizing pressure too low
2) Too much combustion air
3) Inefficient nozzle, either fouled or worn
4) Water in the fuel
1) Insufficient combustion airflow
2) Inefficient nozzle, either fouled or worn
3) Combustion chamber unsuitably designed
or too small
4) Delivery nozzle inadequate in respect to the
combustion chamber size
5) Refractory lining unsuitable (it reduces the
space for the flame excessively)
6) Boiler or chimney ducts clogged
7) Low pulverizing pressure
1) Excessive draft (only if
there is a suction unit to the chimney)
2) Inefficient nozzle, either fouled or worn
3) Water in the fuel
4) Dirty disk
5) Excessive combustion airflow
6) Air passage between disk and blast tube
1) Boiler operating temperature too low (less
than dew point)
2) Smoke temperature too low (indicatively,
below 130°C for diesel oil)
1) Excessive cooling (indicatively below
130°C) of smoke before exit outflow, for
an outside chimney not adequately heat
insulated or cold air infiltration.

REMEDY
1) Raise the value or wait until they close due
to natural reduction of the temperature or
pressure
2) Replace it
3) Close switches or wait for power to return
4) Check connections and thermostats
5) Replace it
1) Re-set it at the required rating
2) Reduce combustion airflow
3) Clean or replace
4) Drain it from the tank using a suitable pump.
(Never use the burner pump for this purpose)
1) Increase combustion airflow
2) Clean or replace
3) Reduce the diesel oil delivery rate to suit the
combustion chamber (excess thermal power
will obviously be lower than necessary) or
replace the boiler
4) Increase nozzle delivery rate by replacing it
5) Modify it according to boiler manufacturer's
instructions
6) Clean them
7) Reset at the required value
1) Adjust the suction fan speed by changing
the pulley diameter
2) Clean or replace
3) Remove it from the tank with a suitable pump
(never use the burner pump for this purpose).
4) Clean it
5) Reduce combustion air flow
6) Rectify the position of the combustion head
regulator
1) Increase the operating temperature
2) Increase the diesel oil capacity if the boiler
permits.
1) Improve insulation and close any fissure
letting cold air in.
