Preparations
• The carburettor is already roughly pre-adjusted.
• Before operating the engine, air-clean it with compressed air.
This way you make sure that the combustion chamber is free of dirt which could get into the engine through the plug socket.
• Insert a glow plug with an average or a cold heat range (depending on the fuel).
• Oil the air filter slightly in order to filter out even fine dust particles.
• Insert the glow plug.
• Open the tank cap and fill in the fuel.
• Insert the charged 7.2 racing battery pack into the rotor starter.
Starting the engine
The wheels must be hanging freely in the air! Put the model on a
suitable car stand or similar.
• Plug the shaft of the rotor starter into the actuator of the crankcase.
• Press the start button of the rotor starter and wait for the motor to make a few
revolutions.
• Repeat the procedure until there are no more air bubbles in the fuel tube and the
fuel is just about to enter the carburettor.
• Put the glow plug starter with a fully charged starter battery on the glow plug.
Make sure it sits tightly!
• Operate the rotor starter until the engine starts running. Hold the model firmly
with your other hand.
Never touch the drive mechanism as it could start running if the slipping
clutch engages. Risk of injury!
• When the engine is running, remove the rotor starter and the glow plug starter.
Only connect the glow plug starter to the engine for a short time. Otherwise the glow plug can
burn out prematurely.
• If the rotor starter - after several unsuccessful attempts - only works with increased effort, too much fuel
has reached the combustion chamber and the crankcase. The engine has been flooded.
Refrain from further start attempts and remove the excess fuel in order to prevent damage to the rotor
starter or the engine!
For this purpose, proceed as follows:
• Carefully screw in the main jet needle clockwise all the way.
• Unscrew the glow plug and check its glow function.
• Place a piece of cloth on the engine and have the rotor starter make 5-6 revolutions. The fuel is pumped
out and evaporates.
• Insert the glow plug again.
• Now screw the main jet needle anti-clockwise by 3 revolutions.
• Try to start the engine again.
If the engine will not start running after the 10th attempt, repeat the procedure described above or try to
solve the problem according to the troubleshooting table!
