Prestriping
Prestriping records the CTL signal and time code over the whole length of the tape.
Prestriping is necessary before using a new tape for recording audio signals only.
When using the PCM-3324S, you can perform prestriping at four times the normal
recording speed. (See PCM-3324S Operation Manual, "3-4 Prestriping.")
Advance recording mode
In this mode, the CTL signal, time code signal and digital audio signals are recorded
simultaneously. This mode is used principally for live recording.
CTL protect mode
In the advance recording mode or forced assemble recording mode, recording is not
possible unless all digital audio channels are in the recording ready state. (This is
called "CTL protect mode." )
If this restriction is inconvenient for operating requirements, you can circumvent it
by switching the CTL PRO bit switch of the MC board to the left (PCM-3324S) or
the right (PCM-3348HR).
CTL signal recording modes
In assemble recording there are two ways of adding the CTL signal, as follows:
Automatic assemble recording: the CTL signal continues from where it was
broken off.
Forced assemble recording: the CTL signal is overwritten from the beginning of
the recording.
The unit is factory set to the automatic assemble recording mode.
To select forced assemble recording, switch the AUTO ASM bit switch of the MC
board to the left (PCM-3324S) or the right (PCM-3348HR).
