5 – – S S ide l l ights
The warning lamp comes on when the
side lights are switched on.
6 – – C C oolant t t emperature/
Coolant l l evel*
The warning lamp lights up for a few sec-
onds as a functional check when ignition
is switched on.
If the lamp does not go out afterwards or
flashes when driving, either the coolant
temperature is too high or the coolant
level too low:
Stop, s s witch e e ngine o o ff and check level.
Add coolant if necessary.

scalding! W W ait u u ntil n n o m m ore s s team

When t t he e e ngine i i s h h ot t t he c c ool-
ing s s ystem i i s u u nder p p ressure – –

unscrewing t t he c c ap!
– To p p rotect t t he f f ace, h h ands a a nd
arms y y ou s s hould c c over t t he c c ap o o f
the r r adiator w w ith a a l l arge, t t hick
cloth t t o o o ffer p p rotection a a gainst
steam o o r h h ot f f luid.
Ensure t t hat t t he c c oolant l l iquid
does n n ot d d rop o o n t t he h h ot e e xhaust
or a a ny o o ther h h ot e e ngine c c ompo-
nents. T T he f f rost p p rotection m m ixture
contained i i n t t he c c oolant c c ould
ignite.

If the level is correct, the problem may be
due to a fan fault. In such a case you must
check the radiator fan fuse and replace it
if necessary. See the "Fuses" chapter.
If the warning lamp does not go out
although coolant level and fan fuse are in
order, do n n ot d d rive o o n – call in expert
assistance.
If the trouble is located only in the radia-
tor fan and the coolant level is in order
and temperature warning lamp is off –
you may drive on to the nearest Technical
Service Centre. In order to make good use
of the air stream for cooling, do not let the
engine idle or drive very slowly.
