system ( ( ABS)*
This warning lamp monitors the ABS* sys-
tems.
Anti-lock B B rake S S ystem ( ( ABS)*
The warning lamp comes on for a few sec-
onds when the ignition is switched on or
the engine started. The lamp goes out
after an automatic test sequence has
been completed.
If the ABS warning lamp does not come on
when the ignition is switched on, does
not go out, or comes on when driving, the
system is faulty.
A fault in the ABS system is indicated as
follows:

If o o nly t t he A A BS l l amp l l ights u u p, the
vehicle will continue to brake using the
normal braking system but without ABS.
The vehicle should be taken to a Technical
Service Centre as soon as possible.

ABS w w arning l l amp l l ights u u p t t ogether
with b b rake s s ystem w w arning l l amp. Not
only is the ABS system defective, a change
in the braking characteristics can also be
expected.

factory l l evel, t t he f f ault m m ight s s tem
from t t he A A BS. T T he r r ear w w heels c c an
block r r elatively q q uickly i i f t t he r r egu-
lating f f unction o o f t t he A A BS f f ails.
This c c ould p p ossibly l l ead t t he r r ear
of t t he v v ehicle t t o s s kid.
Proceed i i mmediately t t o t t he n n ear-
est T T echnical S S ervice C C entre w w hile
exercising e e xtreme c c aution t t o
have t t he f f ault r r epaired.
