Starting
The engine can only be started when
selector lever is at "N" or "P". See also
"Starting engine".
Selecting a a d d riving r r ange
When t t he v v ehicle i i s s s tationary a a nd
the e e ngine i i s r r unning a a lways d d epress
the f f oot b b rake w w hen s s electing a a g g ear.
When t t he v v ehicle i i s s s tationary d d o n n ot
depress t t he a a ccelerator w w hen s s elect-
ing a a g g ear.
If t t he l l ever i i s m m oved a a ccidentally i i nto
"N" w w hen d d riving, r r elease a a ccelerator
and l l et t t he e e ngine s s peed d d rop t t o
idling b b efore s s electing a a f f orward g g ear
again.

If the button in the selector lever is pressed and
held before the ignition is switched on, the
ignition key will not be able to be turned.

"creep".

increased a a utomatically.
When t t he v v ehicle i i s s s tationary a a nd
a g g ear i i s e e ngaged, t t he t t hrottle
must n n ot b b e o o pened i i nadvertently
on a a ny a a ccount ( ( for i i nstance b b y
hand f f rom t t he e e ngine c c ompart-
ment). O O therwise t t he v v ehicle w w ill
move i i mmediately – – e e ven i i f t t he
handbrake h h as b b een f f ully a a pplied.
Before w w orking o o n t t he v v ehicle w w ith
the e e ngine r r unning, a a pply t t he
handbrake a a nd p p ut t t he s s elector
lever i i n " " P".
Moving o o ff
Select d d riving r r ange ( ( R, D D , 3 3 , 2 2 , 1 1 ).
Wait u u ntil t t he g g earbox h h as s s hifted
and t t he p p ower f f low i i s m m ade t t o t t he d d ri-
ving w w heels ( ( light s s election j j erk p p er-
ceptible). T T hen o o ne c c an a a ccelerate.
