Brake f f luid
The brake fluid reservoir is on the left
hand side of the engine compartment.
On vehicles with ABS* the reservoir is in
the same place but its design is different.
Note
On vehicles with right-hand drive the
reservoir is on the other side of the
engine compartment.
Checking f f luid l l evel
The fluid level must always be between
the "MAX" and "MIN" marks to ensure
perfect operation.
The level of fluid tends to sink slightly
when the vehicle is used due to the auto-
matic adjustment of brake linings. This is
quite normal.
If, however, the level were to drop rapidly
or below the minimum mark MIN, the
brake system may be leaking. The rele-
vant warning light lights up if the level is
too low (see "Warning lamps" chapter).

Renewing t t he b b rake f f luid
Brake fluid absorbs moisture. In the
course of time it takes in water from the
atmosphere. Too high a content of water
in the brake fluid system can cause corro-
sion damage. Furthermore the boiling
point of the brake fluid is reduced consid-
erably. For t t his r r eason t t he b b rake f f luid
must b b e r r enewed e e very t t wo y y ears.
Warning
When t t he b b rake f f luid b b ecomes t t oo
old, v v apour b b ubbles c c an f f orm i i n
the b b rake s s ystem w w hen t t he b b rakes
are u u sed v v igorously. T T he e e fficiency
of t t he b b rakes a a nd t t hus t t he v v ehicle
safety a a re s s eriously r r educed.
Only use our genuine brake fluid (US FM
VSS 116 DOT 4 standard). The fluid must
be new.

Centre.
It is advisable to have the fluid change
done during an Inspection Service.
