so that when a data cable is plugged in, the system automatically
senses the connection's ground and provides the required SCSI
termination. No external termination is required.
When you add a jumper to JP2, you disable automatic termination.
In this configuration, the daisy-chained RAID appliance or the host
connection to Channel 2 provides the termination.
SAF-TE Controller Card
The SAF-TE controller card of the DuraStor 312R (see
is installed into the back of the storage enclosure, just above the
disk I/O card. It contains the SAF-TE switches and an RS-232 serial
communications port.

The SAF-TE controller card monitors the disk drives, PSUs, cooling
fans, and enclosure temperature, and continually reports
conditions to the host system. It also sets the drive ID (drive
configuration), the SCSI bus mode, and the disk drive start/spin-
up options.
