66 Battery test
If the mower's battery starts to perform poorly the
Automower® 305 will mow for shorter periods. The
mower can also stop and show the message Low
battery voltage. To establish whether the battery
is functioning unsatisfactorily a battery test is
recommended.
A battery test is also recommended in connection
with the mower's winter service. An inferior battery
can then be replaced before the next season starts.
661 Performing a battery test
1.
Checking the battery's capacity requires that
the battery is completely discharged. Use
manual mode and fully charge the battery.
When charging commences the battery
temperature should not be more than 40ºC.
2.
Allow Automower® 305 to cut in manual
mode until the battery is flat. The mower
should have a low level of cutting resistance
during the battery test. The cutting height
should therefore be set at maximum.
3.
When the battery has run down the mower
stops. The result of the battery test is then
saved automatically and can be read in
Autocheck EXP or Battery capacity (5-2-5) in
the mower's display, see Battery capacity
(5-2-5) on page 21.
In cases where a battery test cannot be performed on
an installation, the test can be performed directly on the
work bench via Autocheck EXP. The test is performed
as above, except the mower's driving wheel and blade
disc rotate freely during the test. Since resistance to the
wheel drive and blade disc is in principle non-existent,
discharging the battery may take several hours. Note
that the most reliable test results can be achieved when
the mower is run on an installation.
662 Evaluating the battery test
The four most recent battery tests are saved in the
mower. Read the test result from Autocheck EXP or
Battery capacity (5-2-5) in the mower.
A new battery has a total capacity of about
1,600 mAh but is charged to a maximum of
1,200 mAh. The test results from a battery test on a
new battery are thus normally around 1,200 mAh
As the battery ages the battery capacity decreases.
If the battery capacity displayed is approximately
900 mAh or lower, it is possible that the battery is
dead and needs to be replaced. Note that the values
are approximate and vary between different mowers
and assume that the measuring is done as described.

6 TROUBLE SHOOTING
NOTE! If the mower has not been in operation for
more than two months when the test is performed,
for example if the mower has been put in for
a winter service, at least two and preferably
three battery tests should be carried out. The
assessment should be based on the most recently
conducted test as the first test can show an
incorrect value. It is consequently more practical
to perform a battery test in connection with the
mower's normal operation or in connection with it
having recently been in operation
When changing the battery Operating data, trip
should be reset in Autocheck EXP. This resets
the value for Chargings OK, which is a measure
of how old the battery is, both in the main counter
and the trip counter. A battery can normally take
approximately 2,000-3,000 charging cycles.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Note that the limit value 900 mAh is only
a guideline and that the battery capacity
can vary between different mowers As
long as the mower can cut the grass the
battery does not need to be replaced
