Obstacles within the working area that can be run into
should still be demarcated by the boundary wire even
though the function of the Automower® 305 does not
demand this. It will however make operations quieter
and significantly reduce wear on the Automower®
305. Obstacles that can withstand a collision include
large trees, large kerbstones, swing frames, sandpits,
walls, thick bushes, etc.
Couplers
If the supplied boundary wire is not long enough
to cover the entire working area, extra wire can be
added using an original coupler. The total length of
the boundary wire should not exceed 250 metres.
To join boundary wires:
1.
Insert both ends of the wires into the coupler.
Do not remove the insulation from the wire.
2.
Then press down the button on top of the
coupler. The button has been pressed down
fully when none of edges of the button can
be felt or seen on the coupler.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Twinned cables, or a screw terminal
block (chock-block), that is insulated
with insulation tape are not satisfactory
splices Soil moisture will cause the
conductors to oxidise and after a while
result in a broken circuit

Check that the charging station is in the
best position.
The position of the charging station and
where the guide wire is connected along
the boundary wire has an impact on how
long the guide loop will be, see 1.9 Guide
wire, page 10.
The illustration below shows how a guide
loop can look.
The illustration is also a good example of a
good charging station position that results
in the shortest possible guide loop.
Make the guide loop as short as possible. If
the guide loop is longer than 250 m it may
be hard for the mower to follow the wire.
