5.2 Connecting the 3RW51 soft starter
Requirements
• Observe the conductor cross-sections and tightening torques in the data sheet or on the front
of the 3RW51 soft starter beneath the hinged cover.
• Pay attention to the required tools indicated on the front of the 3RW51 soft starter beneath
the hinged cover.
Procedure
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Turn off and lock out all power supplying this device before working on this device.
1. Connect the main circuit connections (line side / motor side) of the 3RW51 soft starter
(Page 59).
2. Connect the external bypass contactor to the main circuit terminal (Page 61).
3. Connect the control terminals of the 3RW51 soft starter.

Disconnecting the control terminals from the screw-type terminals (Page 65)
4. Connect the analog output (optional).
5. Mount the supplied cover for the control cable duct (Page 67).
6. For size 3 and 4, remove the protection board after the installation work has been completed.

Result
The 3RW51 soft starter is connected and ready to operate.
