6) Pull a PVA bag over the shaped foam part and inner contours of the
lamination ring and tie off distally. Degrease the lamination ring and at-
tach it over the PVA bag to the shaped foam part (Fig. 6). Laminate the
outer socket over the shaped foam part and lamination ring.
7) Once the laminate has cured, transfer the four fixing holes of the lamination
ring to the outer socket and connect the elbow component to the outer
socket using the four fixing holes of the lamination ring (Fig. 7, arrow).
8) Once again, temporarily affix the wrist unit and terminal device to the
elbow component to verify the length of the prosthesis. Shorten the
forearm socket a bit more, if necessary. It is important, however, that the
diameter for the wrist unit remains unchanged.
4.3 Adjustments and final assembly
4.3.1 Changing the lock cable
Remove the 4 screws from the joint pieces to separate the forearm from
the upper arm (Fig. 10). Remove the 4 screws from the elbow ball and pull
off the ball (Fig. 11). Remove the 4 screws from the joint piece (Fig. 12).
Position the joint piece with cable lock on the other side and reassemble
(Fig. 13).
Afterwards, verify that the joint pieces are easy to move. Reattach the elbow
ball to the joint piece of the humeral rotation joint and tighten the screws.
Screw the centring bushes onto the screws so there is no space to the
screw head. Apply 636K13 Loctite 241 to the four screws and reconnect
the humeral rotation joint to the forearm. Slightly tighten the screws using
an Allen wrench. Verify that the joint and cable lock are easy to move and
firmly tighten the screws (Fig. 10).
