Installing the File Gateway Software
This chapter describes how to install and manage the File Gateway server software, and how to
create Windows users and groups on the server.
The File Gateway software runs on a dedicated File Gateway server.

Make sure you are current with all Windows critical updates. Many Windows critical updates have
already been applied in the image on the Avid NEXIS File Gateway server. Do not turn on automatic
updates. Manually apply only the updates that have been approved by Avid. For the current list,
access the Knowledge Base at
Bulletin Addendum document. In addition, make sure you apply Microsoft Hotfix KB3033929, which
supports SHA-2 code signing.
Installing the Client and File Gateway Software
The Avid Client Manager and File Gateway software is included in the Avid NEXIS software kit,
which you can download from your Avid Master account.

Use the Client Manager only to initially connect to, and disconnect from, the Avid ISIS or Avid
NEXIS systems you are using. Make sure to quit (not just close) the Client Manager when finished.
Do not run the Client Manager while also running the File Gateway service.
To install the Avid Client Manager and File Gateway software:
1. Log in to the File Gateway server as Administrator (default password:
2. Open a browser enter either the hostname or the IP address of the Avid NEXIS System Director.
Use the IP address if you do not have DNS configured in your environment or the System
Director is not in the DNS server list.

4. In the Management Console, click the Installers link.
5. In the Avid NEXIS Clients section, click the File Gateway installer, named
AvidNEXISFileGateway_Win64_x.x.xxxxx.msi, and the Windows Client installer, named
AvidNEXISClient_Win64_x.x.x.xxxxx.msi.
The installers are downloaded to the default Downloads folder on the File Gateway server
desktop.
6. On the File Gateway server desktop, open the downloads folder and install the Client software as
follows:
