To configure the 6 / MMG1 port for dedicated out-of-band management
1. Ensure that an ASCII console is connected to the platform through the RJ-45–to–DE-9 cable and
that console computer is turned on.
2. Do one of the following:
— If you are using an ASCII terminal, power on the terminal.
— If you are using a computer with terminal emulation software, run the terminal emulation
program and use the following port parameters:
• Bits per second: 19200
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: None
• Stop bits: 1
• Flow control: None
3. Power on the platform. The PWR and SYS or SYS OK LED indicators on the front panel light up.
The platform starts up. After approximately a minute, the Startup Configuration window is
displayed.
4. In the Startup Configuration window, for the first parameter, Enable management port,
enter y.
5. Provide the rest of the requested information as appropriate. The platform reboots after the last
parameter is defined. Press Enter to accept default values.
If no configuration is entered within 30 seconds, the platform applies the following default
configuration:
— IP Address: 192.168.1.1
— IP subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
— Port number for management. The port number depends on the switch platform used.
6. If the start-up configuration screen does not appear, do the following:
a. Wait for the prompt.
b. Type and press Enter.

c. Enter the username and password.
d. To view the current IP interface setting of the platform, enter the following:
net ip-interface get
e. To add/modify/delete the existing IP Interface, enter the following:
net ip-interface add/modify/delete
or enter: net ip-interface help to see the command options.
Caution: If you want to change the function of the 6/MNG 1 port after there is a configuration on
the platform, you need to save the configuration, delete the configuration using q1, reboot the
platform, and reconfigure the function of the of the 6/MNG 1 port using the Startup Configuration
procedure.
